Lifespan Cancer Institute: Cancer Center & Pharmacy Renovations

Lincoln, Rhode Island

This is the third Cancer Center Lifespan has built in Rhode Island, as they expand to accommodate treatments here and in Massachusetts. The job was awarded to Pariseault with the intention that a portion would be operational four months from the project being secured. This phase-one of the project was completed by fast tracking the construction with a good project design team to transform the ground level of an occupied building into a 9,000 square foot high-quality treatment center, and Lifespan opened the doors to serve a new area right on schedule. The rest of the project was completed as a second phase a few months later in the form of a new main entrance to the floor of the occupied building. The Program of the Cancer Institute consisted of a pleasant waiting room, eleven exam rooms, fourteen infusion rooms, a nurse station, offices and medical support spaces. Included in this project was a General Practice Pediatric Suite and a Blood Testing Laboratory. The third phase on this site was a new 900 square foot pharmacy to support the cancer center. The projects include an extensive HVAC and exhaust scope to keep the required pressures in the cleanroom environment. Each location has three sterile clean rooms with automated sliding doors and one-way pass-throughs allowing the compounding of the drugs to be done in the perfect environment. All of the finishes are easily cleanable with harsh cleaning products – epoxy paint, sheet vinyl floors and various solid surface countertops and shelves.
